Self-aligned and self-limiting van der Waals epitaxy of monolayer MoS₂ for scalable 2D electronics

Previous studies have shown the importance of unidirectionally aligned domain nucleation for the growth of 2D semiconductor single crystals. Here, the authors report the observation of a self-alignment process of misoriented domains during the metal-organic chemical vapour deposition growth of 2D MoS₂ on sapphire, leading to single-crystalline films with improved carrier mobility.

Mohri et al. show that, in response to genotoxic stress, melanocyte stem cells undergo senescence-associated differentiation, causing their depletion and protecting them against melanomagenesis. This process is suppressed by carcinogens.

The authors identify an atypical type of stem cell division that regulates hair follicle organ homeostasis and aging in mice. These ‘stress-responsive-type’ asymmetrical cell divisions cause hair follicle stem cells to detach from the basement membrane leading to their exhaustion, elimination and organ aging.
