By quantifying the changes in the low-frequency spectra of coupled intermolecular solute–solvent modes, THz calorimetry can be used as a framework to deduce the changes of the Gibbs free energy during biological and chemical processes. Leveraging the advances in THz technologies, THz lasers allow for high temporal resolution and applications to inhomogeneous samples.
