Benzoazepines are underrepresented in drug discovery libraries, primarily because of the lack of efficient preparation routes. Here, the authors report a mechanochemical skeletal editing protocol for use in carbon-atom insertion into (iso)quinolines to afford the corresponding benzoazepines.
