  • Fractional magnetic excitations naturally emerge in one-dimensional spin chains. The search for fractionalization in higher dimensions has focused on frustrated systems but evidence now suggests that it can occur in simple two-dimensional antiferromagnets.

  • Neural-Network Quantum States are highly effective in describing quantum many-body systems, but they are typically system-specific. Here the authors propose Foundation Neural-Network Quantum States, which can be applied across multiple systems simultaneously, enabling accurate estimation of challenging observables.

  • Stochastic reconfiguration (SR) is a method to enhance the optimization of variational functions in quantum many-body systems but becomes impractical beyond a few thousand parameters. Here, the authors combine an alternative SR formulation with a Deep Transformer architecture with 105 parameters, achieving the best variational energy for the J1J2 Heisenberg model on the 10 × 10 square lattice
