CsPbI3 nanolayers of two-octahedral layer thickness are required for full-color emission in mono-halide perovskites, but their synthesis is complicated by the high reactivity of I-containing crystallites. Here, the authors devise Pb deficiency to retard crystal growth and thus limit growth to two octahedral layers.
