Transition-metal-catalyzed asymmetric benzylic substitution reactions for the construction of a stereogenic center at the benzyl position is challenging. Herein, the authors report a Pd/Cu co-catalyzed enantio- and diastereodivergent benzylic substitution reaction of benzylic geminal dicarboxylates with imino esters, constructing two stereocenters at the benzyl position and nucleophile moiety.
