Controlling band alignments by artificial interface dipoles at perovskite heterointerfaces

Controlling the alignment of bands at oxide interfaces is crucial for developing them into useful devices. By inserting charges into the interface to generate dipoles, Yajima et al. show tuning of the band alignment between SrRuO₃/Nb:SrTiO₃by 1.7 eV.

Spin-valley coupling enhanced high-T_C ferromagnetism in a non-van der Waals monolayer Cr₂Se₃ on graphene

In most van der Waals ferromagnets, reducing the number of layers reduces the Curie temperature. Here, Chuang et al., find that Cr₂Se₃ has an increased Curie temperature for thinner samples, and through angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy they attribute this to differences in the valley carrier density in different thickness samples.

Quadratic Fermi node in a 3D strongly correlated semimetal

5d transition metal iridates provide a platform to study the combined effects of strong spin orbit coupling and strong electronic correlations. Here, the authors find a quadratic band touching in the band structure of Pr₂Ir₂O₇, suggesting it may be tuned to form various strongly correlated topological phases.

Suppression of the antiferromagnetic pseudogap in the electron-doped high-temperature superconductor by protect annealing

In cuprates, superconductivity exists in a narrow window at high electron doping concentration with strong antiferromagnetic correlations. Here, the authors demonstrate superconductivity with no effect of antiferromagnetic order in a cuprate for a wide electron doping range following a protect anneal process.
