  • Cuprous oxide is a promising solid-state platform for scalable on-chip quantum technologies due to its high-lying Rydberg excitonic states. Here, using a CMOS-compatible growth technique, the bottom-up fabrication of chip-scale site-selective arrays of cuprous oxide microparticles is demonstrated, providing a platform for programmable Rydberg exciton arrays.

  • Multistability is the possibility of a dissipative quantum many-body system to have multiple steady states - it is intensely studied, but its existence remains controversial. The paper settles this by providing an exactly provable case, and also proves that boundary time crystals can exist in interacting lattice models, which was not known before.

  • Engineering the arrangement of atomic arrays enables their cooperative interaction with optical photons even when individual atom separations are far beyond the light’s wavelength. Here, the authors report long-range cooperative resonances in an array of rare-earth ions implanted into a lithium niobate micro-ring resonator.
