Selective Growth of α-form Zinc Phthalocyanine Nanowires for High Water Dispersibility: Metastable α-form zinc phthalocyanine nanowires can be dominantly obtained by increasing the flow rate of carrier gas during physical vapor transport process, which leads to increased water dispersibility and opens the possibility of zinc phthalocyanine nanowires for practical cancer thrapy applications.

Significant increase in the water dispersibility of zinc phthalocyanine nanowires and applications in cancer phototherapy

Water-dispersed nanowires for phototherapy: Without passivation of any water-friendly functional groups in its backbone, one-dimensional zinc phthalocyanine nanowires show remarkably increased dispersibility in water. Upon irradiation with near infrared light, the zinc phthalocyanine nanowires exhibit dual photodynamic and photothermal properties, which enhance the cytotoxic efficiency against tumor cells.

Macrophage VLDLR mediates obesity-induced insulin resistance with adipose tissue inflammation

VLDLR regulates cellular lipoprotein uptake and storage. Here, the authors show that VLDLR, expressed on adipose tissue macrophages, is upregulated in obesity and promotes adipose tissue inflammation by upregulating ceramide production and facilitating M1-like macrophage polarization.
