  • We demonstrate intracellular GaN microrod lasers for cell labeling applications. GaN microrods show excellent lasing signals under intracellular conditions with a low lasing threshold (~270 kW/cm2). The lasing spectra from individual intracellular microrods are distinguishable because each GaN microrod has different lasing peak wavelength, mode spacings, and relative PL intensities. This result suggests that GaN microrods can be candidates for cell labeling applications.

  • L1 is a group of active retrotransposons in humans. Here the authors show that m6A modifications on L1 RNA increase translation efficiency and retrotransposition in human cells. M6A motifs are more enriched in evolutionary young L1s.

  • The transport dynamics of messenger ribonucleoproteins in neurons is crucial to our neuronal functions, but the detail remains elusive. Song et al. show that they are transported along the dendrites in alternating run and rest phases with their own random sojourn times, following an aging Lévy walk.
