In the arena of strained heterocyclic chemistry, phosphacycles as appealing electrophilic P-containing building blocks are underestimated. Here, the authors report a class of electrophilic phosphiranium salts bearing fluorinated benzyl quaternizing groups for the direct synthesis of diverselyβ-functionalized phosphines.
