Strain-associated nanoscale fluctuating lithium transport within single-crystalline LiNi_1/3Mn_1/3Co_1/3O₂ cathode particles

Lithium-ion batteries rely on lithium diffusion within particles, traditionally assumed to follow concentration gradients. Here, authors use X-ray microscopy to track lithium movement in single particles, discovering that lithium can move against concentration gradients due to strain effects.

A RNA producing DNA hydrogel as a platform for a high performance RNA interference system

Interfering RNA have a range of therapeutic and research based applications, issues with delivery have made systems that make siRNA in situ of interest. Here, the author report on the creation of a DNA hydrogel with improved stability and transcription efficiency over plasmid DNA.

High-performance and stable photoelectrochemical water splitting cell with organic-photoactive-layer-based photoanode

While organic semiconductors may be useful in photoelectrochemical water-splitting materials, they show low stability in water. Here, the authors report high-performance and stable organic-semiconductor-based photoanodes passivated using nickel foils, GaIn eutectic, and layered double hydroxides.
