A cell cycle-dependent transition of acetylation to phosphorylation regulates timely centrosome maturation

Centrosome maturation in the G2/M phases is crucial for mitosis. Here, the authors identify that the ubiquitin E3 ligase RNF40 undergoes an acetylation-to-phosphorylation switch along with the cell cycle to facilitate timely PLK1 recruitment and centrosome maturation at the G2/M phases.

Alphaviruses are enveloped RNA viruses that contain several human pathogens. Here, the authors use block-based reconstruction method and provide a 3.5 Å cryo-EM structure of sindbis virus that identifies a conserved hydrophobic pocket near the viral membrane that is stabilized by an unknown pocket factor.
