Achieving miniature and versatile nanophotonic devices with metasurfaces is of great interest. The authors embed a metasurface inside an optical cavity to reduce thickness and provide degrees of freedom for controlling resonant wavelengths, enabling multi-band filtering, structural colouration and spectral imaging.
