Judith Schneidewind et al. present a molecular model of a light-dependent photoenzyme, TeLPOR, from cyanobacteria. They find that the protein is monomeric in its apo form but that substrate and co-factor binding results in dimerization via the active site surface patch, providing new insight into mechanisms of chlorophyll biosynthesis.
