Tools to determine the spatial distribution of components and their networks inside cells are not well developed. Here, authors provide the open-source 3D-cell-image analysis platform Cell Detection and Analysis of Intensity Lounge (CellDetail) for quantitative distribution analyses.

Haematopoietic stem cells in perisinusoidal niches are protected from ageing

Saçma, Pospiech and co-workers show that sinusoidal niches are uniquely preserved on ageing, that they are the predominant niche for label-retaining (LR)-HSCs in aged mice and display higher reconstitution capacity compared with non-LR HSCs.

The multiple myeloma risk allele at 5q15 lowers ELL2 expression and increases ribosomal gene expression

ELL2 was recently discovered as a susceptibility gene for multiple myeloma (MM). Here, they show that the MM risk allele lowers ELL2 expression in plasma cells, that it also upregulates gene sets related to ribosome biogenesis, and that one of the linked variants reduces binding of MAFF/G/K family transcription factors.
