Short-term starvation reduces IGF-1 levels to sensitize lung tumors to PD-1 immune checkpoint blockade

Ajona and colleagues report that short-term starvation synergizes with anti-PD-1 blockade to reduce lung tumor growth and metastasis. This antitumor effect is mediated through the reduction of plasma IGF-1 levels and IGF-1R levels on tumor cells.

An integrative approach unveils FOSL1 as an oncogene vulnerability in KRAS-driven lung and pancreatic cancer

KRAS-driven cancers remain refractory to current clinical therapies. In this study, the authors show that lung and pancreatic cancers expressing oncogenic KRAS can be targeted by genetic inhibition of FOSL1, which involves downregulation of genes of the mitotic machinery.
