Bjurling et al. evaluate mosaic loss of chromosome Y (mLOY) as a risk factor for male idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) in epidemiological, clinical, and single-cell RNA sequencing data. The results suggest that mLOY contributes to IPF severity by enhancing profibrotic signaling in lung tissues, highlighting the potential for targeted therapies.
