Atropisomers are sterically hindered molecules whose formation typically proceeds via atropisomeric intermediates and encumbered transition states. Here, the authors report regio- and chemoselective nucleophilic aromatic substitution (SNAr) reactions for the synthesis of heterobiaryl C─N atropisomers, via non-atropisomeric intermediates and transition states.
