Neural mechanisms underlying cancellation of ongoing actions are not fully understood. This study shows that stronger coupling of subthalamic neurons to local delta rhythms hinders cancellation of ongoing actions, and that disease-related increases in subthalamic neuronal bursting in Parkinson’s disease may impair response inhibition.
