Arp2/3-mediated bidirectional actin assembly by SPIN90 dimers

Liu et al. show that SPIN90 dimerizes and binds two Arp2/3 complexes to nucleate two bidirectional actin filaments and the dimerization domain is conserved in multicellular animals, suggesting that the mechanism of bidirectional actin filament nucleation is conserved.

H₂S-activatable near-infrared afterglow luminescent probes for sensitive molecular imaging in vivo

Afterglow imaging probes are of interest for in vivo imaging due to high signal-to-background ratios. Here, the authors report on an afterglow nanoparticle which is activated by hydrogen sulphide and demonstrate the measurement of hydrogen sulphide levels and the labelling of hepatic cancer specimens in vivo.

Generation of hydroxyl radical-activatable ratiometric near-infrared bimodal probes for early monitoring of tumor response to therapy

Cortactin stabilizes actin branches by bridging activated Arp2/3 to its nucleated actin filament

Liu et al. show how cortactin stabilizes Arp2/3 actin branches by binding the daughter filament. It stabilizes the interface of activated Arp3 with the first actin subunit of the new filament, and its central repeats extend along successive daughter-filament subunits.
