Two-stage electro–mechanical coupling of a K_V channel in voltage-dependent activation

In voltage-gated potassium (K_V) channels, the voltage-sensing domain (VSD) undergoes activation states to trigger pore opening via electro–mechanical (E–M) coupling. Here authors show that K_V7.1 undergoes a two-stage E–M coupling mechanism during voltage-dependent activation.
