Single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) offer a promising platform for heterogeneous catalysis due to their high surface area and insolubility. Here, the authors demonstrate that SWNTs encapsulated within organic macrocycles to form mechanically interlocked rotaxane-type species can effectively graft basic nitrogenous moieties for Knoevenagel condensation, achieving high catalytic activity and recyclability.
