Ischemic heart disease causes irreversible damage due to poor cardiomyocyte renewal. Here, the authors show that PKM2 modRNA therapy in pigs drives cardiomyocyte proliferation, minimizes fibrosis, restores cardiac function and prevents heart failure after injury.
