Efficacy and safety of cAMP signalling-biased GLP-1 analogue ecnoglutide monotherapy versus placebo in patients with type 2 diabetes (EECOH-1): a multi-centre, randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled, phase 3 trial

Here the authors report a phase 3 clinical trial showing that Ecnoglutide, designed as a cAMP-biased GLP-1R agonist, improved glycaemic control versus placebo in adults with type 2 diabetes inadequately controlled with diet and exercise alone or with a single oral hypoglycaemic agent.

Iron-catalyzed aliphatic C–H functionalization to construct carbon–carbon bonds

Developing synthetic catalysts that mimic the enzyme activity of cytochrome P450 enzymes while avoiding oxygenation remains a challenge, especially for intermolecular carbon–carbon bond formation reactions. Here, the authors report an iron/bioinspired ligand catalyst that uses hydrogen peroxide to enable undirected methylene C–H functionalization with 1,4- quinones and azines.

BMP4 resets mouse epiblast stem cells to naive pluripotency through ZBTB7A/B-mediated chromatin remodelling

Yu, Zhou, Cao, He et al. show that BMP4 reconfigures the nuclear architecture during the transition from primed to naive pluripotency by targeting Zbtb7a and Zbtb7b, which encode proteins that mediate the opening of naive chromatin loci.

Efficacy and safety of GLP-1 analog ecnoglutide in adults with type 2 diabetes: a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled phase 2 trial

A Phase 2, randomized, placebo-controlled study evaluated novel GLP-1 analog ecnoglutide in adults with type 2 diabetes. Here we show that ecnoglutide significantly reduced HbA1c from baseline up to -2.39% compared to -0.55% for placebo (P<0.0001), with a safety profile similar to approved GLP-1 analogs.

Methylmalonic acid (MMA) is increased in aging as well as produced by advanced tumors, and can drive pro-aggressive changes in these tumor cells.
