Imidazolones are valuable N-heterocycles with significant pharmacological applications, yet existing synthesis methods often lack efficiency and selectivity. Here, the authors present a synthesis approach using a PhPNP-Mn catalyst for dehydrogenative condensation of urea with 1,2-diols, achieving high yields and broad functional group tolerance.
