Organic electrochemical transistors (OECT) rely on the coupling between ionic and electronic species. Here, Zhang et al. show that delaying cation expulsion enables an anion-cation dual-doping mechanism in OECTs, thus improving current sensitivity and fidelity for physiological signal acquisition.
