Charge density waves (CDW) are a prominent feature for many quantum materials but their exact origins and relationship with other temperature-dependent phenomenon are complex to understand. Here, the authors use time-resolved extreme ultraviolet momentum microscopy combined with density functional theory to investigate the mechanisms of CDW fluctuation formation in 1T-TiSe2 where results suggest an electron-phonon rather that excitonic driven mechanism.
