Uma S. Gautam et al. show that Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) sensor kinase DosS regulates host autophagosome, which may contribute to the optimal growth of Mtb in host macrophages. This study suggests that DosS’ target transcription factor DosR is not required for DosS to establish the full virulence of Mtb.
