An antagonistic interaction between PlexinB2 and Rnd3 controls RhoA activity and cortical neuron migration

The small GTPases Rnd2 and Rnd3 act downstream of proneural factors to control the migrating behaviour of neurons in the mouse embryonic cerebral cortex. Here, Azzarelli et al. show that Rnd3 binding to the semaphorin receptor PlexinB2 fine-tunes the levels of active RhoA required for cortical neuron migration.

SEMA6A drives GnRH neuron-dependent puberty onset by tuning median eminence vascular permeability

Pubertal timing in mammals depends on the function of GnRH neurons that innervate the median eminence (ME) of the hypothalamus. Here, the authors show that Semaphorin 6A regulates GnRH innervation and puberty onset by tuning vascular permeability at the ME.

Rnd3 coordinates early steps of cortical neurogenesis through actin-dependent and -independent mechanisms

The atypical RhoGTPase Rnd3 is implicated in the regulation of neuronal migration in the embryonic cerebral cortex. Using gene silencing techniques, Pacary and colleagues find that Rnd3 is also involved in earlier stages of neurogenesis, by modulating actin filament polymerization and cyclin D1 translation.

Here, the authors use a R26-CreER-R26R-Confetti mouse line to follow quantitatively the clonal dynamics of islet formation showing how, during the secondary transition, islet progenitors amplify through rounds of stochastic cell division before becoming restricted to α and β cell sublineages.
