  • A phase battery is a quantum device that provides a persistent phase bias to the wave function of a quantum circuit. A hybrid superconducting and magnetic circuit containing two anomalous Josephson junctions can provide a tunable Josephson phase that persists in the absence of external stimuli.

  • Data show that the presence of women in quantum science is affected by several detriments, especially for higher positions. This Manifesto outlines the values and goals of Women for Quantum—a group of female physics professors working in AMO physics, quantum many-body physics and quantum information - to foster an inclusive scientific community.

  • The Tomonaga–Luttinger liquid framework can be used to describe 1D quantum systems, spanning fermions, bosons and anyons. In this Review, we discuss the various platforms that can host TLL states, including Josephson junctions, cold atoms and topological materials, and discuss the advances TLL theory can provide in quantum criticality, nonequilibrium dynamics and condensed-matter physics exploration.

  • Thouless pumping is a dynamical quantum effect that results in a quantized response of a many-body system. It stems from the topological properties of the band structure that emerge under a periodic drive in the adiabatic limit. This Review addresses the robustness of topology in adiabatically driven systems exploring fundamental issues regarding the roles of interactions, disorder and higher dimensions in quantum transport.
