High-pressure pump–probe experiments reveal the mechanism of excited-state proton-coupled electron transfer and a shift from stepwise to concerted pathways

Chemical energy conversion and storage rely on the selective movement of protons and electrons, thus understanding these processes is important for applications. Now experiments at elevated pressures are shown to identify excited-state proton-coupled electron transfer mechanisms and to facilitate merging proton transfer with subsequent electron transfer steps towards a concerted pathway.

Harnessing big ‘omics’ data and AI for drug discovery in hepatocellular carcinoma

Several big data ‘omics’ studies have analysed hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). This Review describes omics studies in HCC and their potential in drug discovery and as candidate biomarkers. The application of emerging new artificial intelligence methods in HCC drug discovery is also discussed.
