Creation of equal-spin triplet superconductivity at the Al/EuS interface

Spectroscopic evidence of equal-spin triplet Cooper pairs is still missing so far. Here, Diesch et al. propose a unique signature for the presence of equal-spin triplet pairs and experimentally reveal the spin configuration of triplet pairs at the Al/EuS interface.

Inhibition of CBP synergizes with the RNA-dependent mechanisms of Azacitidine by limiting protein synthesis

Azacitidine (AZA) treatment is used for patients with myelodysplasias that cannot undergo bone marrow transplantation; however, AZA treatment is only partially effective. Here the authors show synergy of AZA with compounds inhibiting the chromatin regulators CBP and p300, which is mediated by the RNA-dependent functions of AZA affecting protein translation.

Changes in long-range rDNA-genomic interactions associate with altered RNA polymerase II gene programs during malignant transformation

Jeannine Diesch et al. report the changes in rDNA chromatin state associated with cell transition into malignancy. They show that a specific transcription factor regulates this transition by altering rDNA chromatin, resulting in the reorganization of contacts between rDNA and the genome.

Signature of magnetic-dependent gapless odd frequency states at superconductor/ferromagnet interfaces

In the proximity of noncollinear magnetization, the Cooper-paired electrons of a superconductor may exist in a spin-triplet state. Here, the authors use scanning tunnel methods to directly observe this effect in Niobium as an adjacent film of Holmium is driven between helical and ferromagnetic order.

Scanning gradiometry with a single spin quantum magnetometer

Scanning NV center magnetometry enables imaging of weak magnetic fields at the nanoscale. Huxter et al. achieve an order-of-magnitude improvement in sensitivity by converting a spatial field gradient into an AC field by mechanical oscillations of the sensor, and image stray fields from atomic steps in an antiferromagnet.
