  • Gas transport through an ångström-sized Janus aperture in graphene, which is created by ozone etching, is investigated by using high-resolution transport measurements and high-throughput atomistic simulations. Rectified gas flow for various gases is demonstrated with rectification ratios of up to two orders of magnitude for oxygen.

  • All-solid-state electrolytes for lithium batteries generally suffer from low ionic conductivity. Here, authors manipulate the lattice of antiperovskite-type Li2OHCl by potassium ion substitution, which alters the lattice structure and improves the lithium ion transport properties.

  • Lithium-ion batteries often struggle to maintain capacity in extreme cold conditions. Here, authors develop amorphous solid electrolytes (xLi₃N-TaCl₅) with high ionic conductivities and design all-solid-state batteries capable of operating at ‒60 °C for over 200 hours.

  • Through the approach of paracrystallization under high-pressure and high-temperature conditions, exceptional toughening has been achieved in oxide glasses by enhancing their crystal-like medium-range order structure. This discovery offers possibilities for the design of more resilient glass materials.
