Mukherjee, Karnam, Das et al. show that Wuchereria bancrofti microfilarial sheath antigen induces maturation of human dendritic cells, driving Th1 and regulatory T cell responses. This study illustrates how the most prevalent microfilaria W. bancrofti exploits the host innate immunity to cause the immunopathogenesis of lymphatic filariasis.
