Current antiretroviral therapy usually results in HIV or SIV rebound if treatment is stopped. Here the authors demonstrate virus remission in macaques persisting for two years after early treatment with a regimen optimized to penetrate virus reservoirs and sustain antiviral activity after treatment cessation.
