Amantadine inhibits known and novel ion channels encoded by SARS-CoV-2 in vitro

Toft-Bertelsen et al. describe repurposing of anti-influenza drug amantadine and its derivatives for the treatment of SARS-CoV-2. They show that Amantadine, Emodin and Xanthene show significant blockage of ionchannels formed by SARS-CoV-2 which are crucial for its assembly and pathophysiology.

Choroid plexus-mediated CSF secretion remains stable in aging rats via high and age-resistant metabolic activity

Choroid plexus produces the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) that serves as the brain dispersion route for nutrients and waste products. Here, the authors show that CSF secretion remains high in aging rats with intact choroid plexus morphology, gene expression, and high metabolic rate.
