Methylation and PTEN activation in dental pulp mesenchymal stem cells promotes osteogenesis and reduces oncogenesis

Mesenchymal stem cells derived from dental pulp (DP-MSCs) differ in oncogenesic and developmental potential compared to those from bone marrow. Here, the authors show that decreased DNA methylation and histone H3K9Me2 enrichment along with higher PTEN activation in DP-MSCs promotes osteogenesis and reduces oncogenesis.

The doping and threshold voltage modulation of 2D transistors remain challenging. Here, the authors report a wafer-scale optical-thermal method combining ultraviolet illumination and oxygen annealing to tune the threshold voltage of atomic-layer-deposited In₂O₃ transistors with 2 nm thickness.

Mutations in the PKM2 exon-10 region are associated with reduced allostery and increased nuclear translocation

Tsan-Jan Chen, Hung-Jung Wang et al. report the crystal structures of tumor-related mutant forms of pyruvate kinase M2 (PKM2). They show that these mutations lead to increased interaction with the PKM2 binding partner KDM8, suggesting a mechanism for their oncogenic action.
