Quasicrystals (QCs) belonging to different local isomorphism classes (LICs) are notoriously challenging to distinguish with electron diffraction. Here the authors demonstrate that high-order harmonics generated from vertical illumination by a laser beam can efficiently provide such distinction, paving the way to all-optical characterizations of QCs and disorder in solids.
