Tuning CO2 electrocatalysis to achieve multi-carbon products is interesting yet challenging. Here the authors report a histidine-functionalized Cu catalyst for CO2 reduction to multi-carbon products and reveal the correlation between catalyst surface charge and catalytic performance.
