This study shows that the wheat major QTL gene-encoded sugar metabolic enzyme HtL1/FBA10 undergoes vernalization-induced dynamic changes in O-GlcNAcylation and phosphorylation, enhancing its enzymatic activity and increasing VRN1 gene expression for flowering.
