ACA kills Mycobacterium tuberculosis and M. bovis by targeting cell wall core assembling protein CpsA

The compound ACA kills Mycobacterium tuberculosis by targeting the CpsA1 and CpsA2 ligases, key enzymes in cell wall assembly. This discovery identifies CpsA1/CpsA2 as promising new drug targets for combating drug-resistant TB.

Cyclic diguanylate monophosphate directly binds to human siderocalin and inhibits its antibacterial activity

Siderocalin is an antibacterial component of the innate immune system that prevents iron acquisition by bacteria by sequestering their iron-binding siderophores. Here, Li et al.show that the bacterial second messenger c-di-GMP binds to siderocalin, thus inhibiting its antibacterial function.

Free-space dissemination of time and frequency with 10⁻¹⁹ instability over 113 km

By using 1 W optical frequency combs and nanowatt-level linear optical sampling modules, a time–frequency dissemination over a free-space link of 113 km is achieved with a stability of less than 4 × 10⁻¹⁹ at 10,000 s.

NapM enhances the survival of Mycobacterium tuberculosis under stress and in macrophages

Yu Liu, Zhiwei Xie et al. show that nucleoid-associated protein NapM enhances the survival of M. tuberculosis in macrophages under stress by inhibiting DNA synthesis as a DnaA antagonist. This study suggests NapM as a potential drug target for tuberculosis control.
