Bipolar membrane electrolyzers hold promise for water electrolysis but are limited by poor water dissociation and interface stability. Here, the authors report poly(terphenyl alkylene)-scaffold bipolar membranes that enhance water dissociation efficiency and enable durable pure water electrolysis.
