A photopolymerization strategy for electron-rich heteroaromatic pentacycles, suitable for two-photon printing, is reported. A dimerized product of an acyl radical, formed by photolysis of Irgacure 2959, catalyses the dehydrogenation of coupled heteroaromatic pentacycles synthesized in acidic conditions via double hydrogen-atom transfer to produce conductive polymers.
