The Fréedericksz transition, a key electro-optic phenomenon in nonpolar nematic liquid crystals, is suppressed in ferroelectric nematics due to their large spontaneous polarization. This study demonstrates that an AC electric field induces splay transitions in ferroelectric nematics, forming complex polarization patterns with a unique geometrical mechanism that minimizes space charges.
