Giant extrachromosomal element “Inocle” potentially expands the adaptive capacity of the human oral microbiome

This study identified prevalent giant extrachromosomal elements from the human oral microbiome. The genetic and ecological analysis provides insight on the potential contribution of this element in adaptation against multiple oral environmental stressors.

Targeted therapy guided by circulating tumor DNA analysis in advanced gastrointestinal tumors

In the observational SCRUM-Japan GOZILA study, after a median follow-up of 11 months, patients with metastatic gastrointestinal tumors who received biomarker-matched therapies based on circulating tumor DNA profiling showed a greater clinical benefit than those receiving unmatched therapy.

In an exploratory preplanned biomarker analysis of the phase 3 PARADIGM trial, a lack of resistance gene alterations in baseline circulating tumor DNA (negative hyperselection) was associated with prolonged overall survival after first-line panitumumab with chemotherapy in patients with RAS wild-type metastatic colorectal cancer.
