One-step construction of circularized nanodiscs using SpyCatcher-SpyTag

Circularised nanodiscs (cNDs) are able to stabilise large lipid bilayer patches and are used for structural and functional studies. Current techniques to build cNDs have numerous steps and low yields; here the authors report a single step construction method using the SpyCatcher-SpyTag system.

Low temperature ionic conducting materials such as OH^- and H⁺ ionic conductors are important electrolyte materials. Here the authors report the discovery of fast mixed OH^- /H⁺ conductors in ceramic materials, SrZr0.8Y0.2O3-δ and CaZr0.8Y0.2O3-δ, for potential use as electrolytes in fuel cells.

Antimony trisulfide is a promising light harvester for photovoltaics. Here the growth of single-crystals of antimony trisulfide on polycrystalline titania is reported to proceed via an epitaxial nucleation/growth mechanism. The resulting solar cell delivers a power conversion efficiency of 5.12%.
