From: Forced protein unfolding leads to highly elastic and tough protein hydrogels
(a) before deswelling; (b) after deswelling. The SEM experiments showed that FL hydrogels show typical interconnected, porous structures with the pore size on the scale of a few micrometres. Compared with hydrogels before deswelling (a), deswelled hydrogels (b) appear to have shrunk, and show more rugged and aggregated structures. This observation is consistent with the deswelling of hydrogels.
