Figure 4

(a,b) HRTEM images at t=0 s (a) and t=228 s (b). The blue, red and green dots represent the original bcc1, the fcc and bcc2 structure, respectively. Scale bar, 5 nm. (c,d) The lattice shear distortion determined from the red-boxed areas in the left HRTEM images analysed by the lattice distortion analysis (LADIA) software. (e) Quantitative shear strain analysis of the black-boxed regions in c and d, respectively. The frequency is the proportion of lattice points with a certain shear strain within the total number of lattice points in the black-boxed areas. (fh) Enlarged images of the black-boxed areas 1, 2, and 3 in a, respectively. (i,k) Simulated HRTEM images of bcc Mo along the [001] and [111] zone axes, respectively, with a lattice parameter of a=0.3147, nm. (j) Simulated HRTEM image of fcc Mo along the [110] zone axis with a lattice parameter of a=0.4030, nm (ref. 41). The simulations were conducted for an acceleration voltage of 300 kV, a spherical aberration coefficient of 1.2 mm and a focus value of −33 nm.
