The two types of substitute microdevices (microparticles) used in our experiments are displayed (fluorescent microspheres on the left, planar silicon chiplets on the right). The left-hand side displays an unordered collection of particles as received from the vendor, while the right-hand side displays particles organized by the use of a molded “waffle-pack”. The scale factor is shown in the inset for each type of microparticle
